I did it!!

Well the "big" day has come and gone. I ran and survived my first 10K on Saturday. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Because this was my first run I didn't want to set a goal, my goal was simply to finish the race and I did that. I run as fast as a snail and finished in 67 minutes (but I guess it wasn't that bad because we all finished within 10 minutes of each other). Again, I didn't really care about the time I just wanted to do it. Next time (because I think there will be a next time) I will set a goal to beat this time. When I began running I HATED it, at this point I no longer HATE it but I'm not quite a lover either. I don't know if I will ever get to that point but I love the feeling I get after I have done a run and I think that will keep me coming back. Being a stay at home mom it's hard for me to have the feeling of accomplishment from day to day (being a mom is great don't get me wrong) but it was an awesome feeling doing something for myself that I have always wanted to do.

Picture this

So I rarely buy juice for my kids because it's just loaded with sugar and they get it in plenty of other areas. So the last couple of weeks capri suns have been on sale so I caved and bought some thinking that they would be nice to have for picnics. Well Londynn saw me buy them and asked to have one for lunch. I thought why not and gave one to her. She learned real quick that you can't squeeze the pouch or it squirts out the straw. Well Boston sees Londynn having juice and of course he wants one....sure why not. I don't know where my brain was but I try to show him how to hold it and put his mouth on the straw without squeezing it....didn't work so well. He freaks and takes it from my hands while the juice is pouring out the straw. I am in a battle with my 1 year old trying to get the juice away and of course he doesn't want to let go so is squeezing harder. Needless to say I think he won that battle. There was capri sun everywhere. I'm an idiot!!

weekend o fun

Our family is known for sticking around home for the holidays and this Memorial weekend was no exception. Jared took friday off so we took the kids to the Living Aquarium. Boston loved the "whishies" (that's how he says it when you ask him to say fish). Overall it was a hit.

Saturday my dad smoked ribs and we all invited ourselves over for dinner. I think these were seriously some of the best ribs I have ever eaten. I'm surprised there were leftovers. He'll definitely be making those again.

Monday we went to my parents house for a bbq. The weather turned out to be perfect even though we were expecting rain. Kelsey and Derek were nice enough to ride their motorcycle over so we were all able to take it for a ride. So much fun!

The result of all play and no naps for two kids.

Bug... bug... bug...

Boston has an older sister so you can expect to see my little man playing with barbies and dolls, but when we visited grandma and grandpa stout last night I was happy to see my little guy trying to pick up a flying ant (not sure if that's what they are called but that's what they look like). He really is my little boy and likes boy things. Well that is until he sees little miss Londynn freaking out over an ant. Yup my little girl is scared of ants (and flies and bees and... but you're not surprised are you?) Boston went from trying to pick up the bugs to totally freaking out not wanting to move and crying to be picked up. Even while he was being held he was worried about the ants on the ground and at one point started crying owie and pointing to his shoe. Grandma took off his shoe and I think he thought the dirt on his foot were bugs because he freaked out a little more. Bug, bug, bug was all he had to say while the tears ran down his face.

We're still here

Apparently I haven't been blogging enough but like I've said before, we lead boring lives. We have however made it to the park for a picnic a few times now that the weather has decided to be nice. On one of our latest trips we were walking around the park and Londynn felt it was important to hold Bostons hand and warn him to watch out for cars (as you can see from the picture there is not a road in site, making her comment all the cuter). Boston is all about being independent these days so it's not very often that he will let his sister hold his hand.

Yup Londynn is at the age where she thinks she needs to make a funny face every time her picture is taken.
