We're off.....

.....to Hawaii.  Tomorrow we leave for Hawaii for a week. I know you all feel sorry for us, but try not to miss us to much (j/k). It's terrible we haven't even left yet but I'm already missing my kids. I hope I get over it real soon. Hawaii here we come!

"I don't like it"

"I don't like it" are Londynn's famous last words. She says this if she's not interested in something, she doesn't like something or if she's scared of something.  My sister had today off so we decided to take Londynn to the zoo. The first animal we came upon were the elephants and the first words out of her mouth were "I don't like it, scary". She wouldn't have anything to do with the elephants and was even more frightened of the big fake wooden elephant. That's my girl!!  She did warm up to the animals after awhile and wasn't so scared of them; however, she was sure to keep her distance and she didn't want you to pick her up so she could see better because then it made her closer to the animals.  In the end her favorite animals were the monkeys and the giraffes, and of course the train ride was a hit.

One of the few pictures I was able to get before the batteries in my camera died.

FINALLY!!

Boston is almost 8 months old and I was wandering if he would ever learn how to roll over. Being such a mellow baby his doctor said it was normal for him to be a little slower at hitting these milestones,  and he has been. He just recently learned how to sit up on his own. I'm in no means in a hurry to have this kid mobile but being a mom you can't help but wander if they are progressing the way they should.  Well tonight he showed me he was just fine and progressing on his own. I thought I would give him some tummy time; however, he's figured out that he no loner needs to be put through tummy torture. He finally rolled over on his own. YIPEEE!!

War wounds and dresses

Londynn has a habit of trying to run faster than her little legs will take her. This is the result of running down our driveway a little too fast. She did a complete somersault.

I swore I would never dress my little boy in girls clothes but I got desperate the other night. Before bed I decided to throw a load of the kids clothes in the washer. I didn't realize however that I grabbed every pair of pajamas that Boston owns. It was time for baths and I didn't have ANYTHING to put Boston in so as a last resort I grabbed Londynns pajama shirt until his pajamas were done. It was really disturbing to see my little boy in a girly shirt. Doesn't every guy have a picture of themselves in a dress when they were little? Jared does. I guess we are just keeping the tradition going. Poor guy.

The poor thing is in a girl shirt and is still smiling.

Failed attempt number 2

I've decided that potty training is one of those moments where you wish you weren't a mom. I knew it would be hard, but not this hard. I'm seriously considering shipping her off somewhere and paying someone else to train my child. My first attempt at potty training Londynn was just before Boston was born. I would have loved to have had only one child in diapers. She definitely wasn't ready at that time. It's now 8 months later and I thought for sure we could do it this time around. I scheduled my whole week so that I could be home with her all day. I tried all day Monday (with the exception of nap time) and she only made it to the potty one time. Not very good odds if you ask me. I've given up and decided to not mention the potty for a couple weeks and then try again. Of course as soon as I put a diaper back on her and don't mention it she has brought it up several times. In fact she just told me that she had to use the potty and so I took her. Low and behold she went. Stubborn child!!

(This is probably way to much information but because I'm so great at journaling in a baby book, this is the next best thing. If you haven't heard about blurb.com you should check it out. I've decided at the end of the year I am going to have the pages of my blog turned into a book, sort of like a family year book.)

Just Kidding!

So I originally thought that Londynns none-stop meltdowns and talking back was due to the fact that she had a double ear infection and she wasn't feeling good. I take that back!  I guess it's her new thing and I swear if she makes it to her third birthday we will be doing good. She's definitely given us a lessons in patience the last few days (who am I kidding she's given us lessons on patience since the day she born). I don't imagine things will be getting better any time soon either. I'm going to take a shot at the potty training thing this week. It's way over due. So if any of you wise mothers have any great tips on potty training....I need all the help I can get.

Very ornery two year old

Londynn just has not been herself the last two days. Meltdown after meltdown and talking back none-stop. I thought I was just lacking patience the last couple days but when she started complaining of her ear hurting tonight at bedtime I knew it must be something more. I had Jared take her to the kids care tonight rather than waiting till the morning to see if it was for real (we went through this ear ache thing not more than a month ago). They just got back and the poor thing has a double ear infection.  That explains the meltdowns! It's 9:30 pm and Jared just left to find an open pharmacy to fill her prescription. I have a feeling this is going to be a long night.

What we've been up to

Painting, Painting and more Painting!!
Finishing a basement is one of those projects that takes WAY longer than you ever expected it would. When we found out we were pregnant with Boston we said we would start the basement and hope to have it done by the time he was born. When we knew it wouldn't be done before he was born we shot to have it done a few months after he was born. Boston is now 7 months old and it still isn't done. We are slowly but surely getting there though. Any spare time we have has been spent painting the basement these days.  So far we have used 11 gallons of primer and 4 gallons of paint. What a job!!

This is going to be the office/craft room.

Girls will be girls

I couldn't resist posting these pictures. Londynn always cracks us up. Tonight after we were done painting downstairs we came upstairs to get the kids ready for bed and Londynn comes running out saying "mom look, I putting my awe-boobs (not quite sure why she calls them awe-boobs) on".

Can you tell she has been playing in the basement? White pants and her lovely dusty feet all over my floor.

The below picture was taken recently. She's such a cheese ball. Good thing we weren't going out in public. What an outfit!
