Christmas

I can hardly believe that Christmas has come and gone already. I'm not sure why, but this Christmas came and went unusually fast. Londynn is at such a fun age. I don't think she fully grasps the Christmas concept and the whole Santa thing but nonetheless she does understand presents and she wanted to help EVERYONE open theirs. Christmas day was kind of a bummer for me this year. Jared was sick on Christmas Eve and I was sick on Christmas Day. It took everything I had to sit on the couch and watch everyone open gifts when all I wanted to do was go to bed. However, despite being sick we did have a good day.

I don't know about other two year olds but my little two year old has a crush on Ernie. She loves Sesame Street and anytime Ernie comes on she has to run and hide her face. All you have to do is say his name and she gets shy. It sure is cute. For Christmas we bought her a tickle me Ernie for fun, just to see how she would react. As you can tell from the picture she isn't to sure of him.

Just one of those days

For those of you that did not hear about my lovely morning on Friday, I thought I would share. So Thursday night while watching the snow come down I decided that I wasn't going to let a little snow stop me from my morning ritual of attending the gym, so Friday morning I got up and got the kids ready and headed to the gym (I had a great workout may I add).  On the way home however is when the dreaded event unfolded. As a shortcut I cut through a neighborhood which has a tiny hill. On the way up the hill I noticed that another car had had difficulties getting up the hill so I popped the car into four wheel drive and decided to gun it a little so I wouldn't get stuck. Well just upon reaching the top if the hill I hit a piece of ice and totally lost control. Needless to say we headed straight for the curb and a tree....yup hit the tree and landed on the sidewalk. Can I say freaky?  It definitely was not the highlight of my day; however, I am grateful to report that we are all ok (except for the tree...my car won).  Definitely an experience I do not wish to relive again. 

Not a Fan!!

Today we attended grandma Olsen's Christmas Party in Ephraim. This was a tradition that I was adopted into when Jared and I got married. It's a party that always includes yummy food and a visit from Santa Clause and this year was no exception. We didn't make it to see Santa Clause this year mainly because I knew that Londynn would want nothing to do with him...I was right.  Part of the tradition is that Santa passes out stockings full of goodies to each of the kids. I just had to get a picture of Londynn with Santa so I was a mean mom and made her sit on his lap. That lasted for a total of maybe 2 seconds.  The picture we got is priceless. One that will always be remembered. 

To be a kid again

Last week while at Costco I bought a Gingerbread House kit for Londynn. Here it is a week before Christmas and we still haven't put it together, so for an afternoon activity I decided to pull it out. I think Londynn had more fun dipping her fingers in the icing then she did putting the candy on house, but I guess that's part of it right. Here is a before and after and a short video, sorry the video has bad lighting but you get the idea.

Ok maybe not, but it's still cute. Here's to all you Doodlebop fans! Londynn loves this show and will run around the house singing it.

Lights at Thanksgiving Point

So for Family night we decided that we would take Londynn to see the lights at Thanksgiving Point. We had never been before and honestly I don't think it was worth the $7, but Londynn enjoyed it so I guess that's all that matters right?

Cookies no more!

So those of you who have toddlers I'm sure have similar stories. The story of these cookies goes as follows: I was to bring dinner to a family in our ward one night and decided that I was going to make pumpkin cookies the night before so it would be one less thing to worry about the following day, so I made a special trip to the store to buy the ingredients and came home and made and baked two dozen cookies and put them in a freezer bag and set them on the counter. Well the following day I got up and hopped in the shower leaving Londynn in front of her favorite TV show Sesame Street (she usually does pretty good and does not get into anything), well this day was the exception. After getting ready for the day I came out into the family room and sat down and here comes Londynn bringing me my once was two dozen cookies. It literally looked like she had jumped on them. I was so mad at her but at the same time trying not to laugh because it really was funny.  Needless to say I had to find another dessert to make for my family. Good thing I love my little girl!

Hoppin' on the Band Wagon

It seems these days that everyone has blogs. I enjoy reading blogs of those family and friends I know and seeing what is going on in their lives.  I thought it would be good to start one of my own. We don't lead very exciting lives here at the Stout home but I guess it's the everyday little things that make our home...home. So here we go, stick with me while I figure things out (hopefully I'll figure it out).
