failed movie attempt

Jared had today off and we thought it would be fun to take the kids to see a christmas carol. We actually bought our tickets in the morning and was looking forward to it all day. Londynn couldn't wait to go to the movies and talked about it all day long. Well our great idea turned out to be a BAD idea. We got to the movie theatre and in our seats and as soon as the movie started Boston was scared (scrooge is a pretty scary guy). He quietly laid his head on my arm and once in a while he would look away, but as soon as the first ghost appeared the poor kid was whimpering.

I picked him up and held in my lap and was trying to distract him so he wouldn't watch but the poor kid couldn't keep his eyes off the screen. By this time Londynn decided that she wanted to sit in Bostons seat so she came over and sat by me. She now noticed that Boston was scared and became scared herself. This is where everything fell apart. My kids feed off of each other and when they both realized that they were scared they both started crying. What else could I do but stand up and take Boston out. I begin to get up proceed down the stairs (mind you was are almost at the back of theatre) and Londynn starts freaking out because I'm leaving. Jared grabs her and starts down the stairs when apparently she looses her shoe. She is now screaming bloody murder because she lost her shoe and Jared isn't stopping to get it.

Have you painted this picture yet? Pretty comical right?...not so much. I'm pretty sure everyone in the theatre is laughing or was wondering what we were thinking bringing them to this movie (I honestly didn't think it would be scary). As soon as we get out of the theatre some lady comes running out carrying Londynn's shoe. Needless to say I didn't have enough time to grab all of our stuff so I had to go back in the theatre to get it all. Lucky for us we were able to get our money back in the form of a gift card. Let's just say Jared and I will not be taking our kids to another movie anytime soon.

O.k. that is a funny story and I'm sure someday you look back and laugh. As for now, I'm very sure that sitters will be on your mind for movie time. Londynn is so funny, she gets so worked up. It must be a girl thing because we have drama here too. I had no idea that it would be a scary show, that is sad for your kids.

Kids are embarrassing! :) I just try to remember that most everyone else has gone through that, or is going through that. Sounds like you have a "free" date night coming up!
